Tell us a little about yourself:Tom: I am a fourth generation Arizonian, born and raised in Tucson. I spent two years in the central United States serving a mission for the LDS church and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1971. My wife, Norma, and I have four children and three grandchildren. How many years have you been in retail and, of those years, how many have been with The Clotherie?Tom: I worked for Mills Touché, a men’s and women’s retail store at the Biltmore, for 32 years and have been with The Clotherie since 2003.What inspired you to pursue a career in men’s retail? What is your favorite aspect of working in men’s retail?Tom: Waiting to go to law school, I took a part-time job at Mills Touché and, as they say, “the rest is history” – I never left! I enjoy working in men’s retail because I like the combination of the aesthetic and the discipline of business. I also appreciate the constant change, transition, and innovation that are a part of the men’s retail industry. One of the true benefits of this business is meeting wonderful people – our loyal and supportive customers, as well as the business associates who work with us in different aspects of the business. On your time off, what activities and hobbies spark your interest?Tom: While my favorite activity is dinner with my family, I must confess a true passion for golf – you can usually find me on the golf course on my days off!Over the years, what trends in men’s fashions have excited you the most and what do you see for the future?Tom: I believe good taste is not a relative principle and the perpetuation of that excites me. I admire those who make it possible for us to offer it on all levels. |
